Official letter from La Joya Independent School District announcing leadership transition at Palmview High School.

Letterhead from La Joya Independent School District, Office of Academics & School Leadership, with contact information and school board members.

Dear Palmview High School Staff and Families,

As we prepare for another exciting school year, I would like to share an important leadership update with the Palmview High School community.

First, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Mrs. Le-Ann Alaniz-Herrera for her dedicated service and leadership as Principal of Palmview High School. Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Alaniz-Herrera has remained committed to creating a positive learning environment where students, staff, and families could thrive. Her dedication, care for students, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on the Palmview High School community, and we thank her for her years of service to La Joya ISD. We wish her continued success in her next chapter.

As we celebrate Mrs. Alaniz-Herrera's contributions, we are equally excited to welcome Mr. Ciro Gonzalez as the new Principal of Palmview High School.

A proud graduate of La Joya ISD's Class of 1993, Mr. Gonzalez has dedicated his career to serving the students and families of the district that helped shape his own educational journey. He began his career with La Joya ISD as a computer proctor before becoming a biology teacher at Jimmy Carter Early College High School.

From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Gonzalez taught biology at Palmview High School, where he built meaningful relationships with students and staff and developed a deep connection to the campus community. Throughout his career, he has served in several leadership roles, including Testing Coordinator, Dean of Instruction, and most recently, Principal of Cesar Chavez Middle School.

Mr. Gonzalez's connection to Palmview extends beyond his professional experience. He and his wife are the proud parents of two Palmview High School graduates, making this opportunity especially meaningful for their family. As he returns to Palmview High School, he brings a passion for student success, a commitment to supporting educators, and a strong belief in the potential of every student.

I am confident that Mr. Gonzalez will continue building upon Palmview High School's proud tradition of excellence while working alongside our outstanding students, staff, families, and community. His leadership, experience, and dedication to La Joya ISD make him an exceptional choice to lead the Lobos into the future.

Please join me in thanking Mrs. Alaniz-Herrera for her service and welcoming Mr. Gonzalez back to the Palmview High School family. We look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead and to another successful year of learning, growth, and achievement.

Sincerely,

Dr. Derek Little
Chief of Academics & School Leadership
